At the last tip of northern Italy, where the coast seems to bend against itself, lies the bay of Muggia, an old fishing village with a Venetian past. The picturesque harbor basin blends almost seamlessly into the townscape with its enchanting alleyways and squares. The architecture, dialect, customs and gastronomic traditions bear witness to the centuries-old connection with Venice. The white stones of Istria harmonize with the colourful houses and the green karst landscape. Trieste, the former K&K monarchy port, is only separated from Muggia by the bay.
