Rustici pauperrimi the rabble of the plant kingdom is what the Swedish naturalist Carl von Linné once called lichens. A description that in no way does justice to these amazing organisms. Lichens are true adaptation specialists,
which conquer all habitats in the Hohe Tauern National Park: from settlements in the valley to forests, gorges and alpine pastures to barren scree fields and the highest summit regions. They defy extreme conditions, such as bitter cold, and impress with their resilience and versatility. In this seminar, Roman Türk, one of Austria's leading lichen experts, provides exciting insights into the diversity of forms and lifestyles of these extraordinary survival artists
a journey through the fascinating world of lichens in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
